a moth and a paper bag

I’ve started working on the next window installation for the Johnson Shop on Orchard street. I’ve only barely started – I figured out what I want to make and it’s going to include some doug rhodehamel style mushrooms. Please go read about his spore project and make a bunch of his mushrooms and plant them. I like the fun and simplicity of the mushrooms and the idea and spirit of the project. Also on the subject of mr. rhodehamel check this out – I love it.

  1. i am so thrilled at your mention of doug rhodehamel. i recently moved from orlando (to philadelphia) where a few friends worked with doug to have his mushrooms at local events.

it always made me smile to see the fields at the orlando art museum sprinkled with his spores 🙂

thank you for the much-needed reminder of this!

let me know if you want the invite.

  3. Gosh….this is so gorgeous…not that I am surprised. You know, I have been meaning to ask you forever if I could do a feature on you on my blog. If you are interested…I would love to feature this piece actually or one of your ships…..I love your work so much. Just let me know and all the best!~

  4. That is beautiful. I checked out the spore project and I am going to participate with my students. What a great idea.

  5. You have taken Doug’s mushrooms to a whole new level… there’s something wonderous about using printed paper! The little moth is so delicate and charming against brown paper…

  6. This is so incredible and inspiring. I first saw it on your flickr photostream and fell in love instantly with your beautiful interpretation of the The Spoor Project Mushroom. I was in the process of creating my own little window display and incorporated a version of these into it. I also simplified them for my young daughter and have found them to be wonderful tools for dramatic play. Thank you, thank you! I linked my blog post directly to you so that others might see your stunning work. Hope you’ll take a moment to stop by.
