I made halloween costumes for a couple of my smaller friends this weekend, a humpback whale and a starfish. It was a sewing marathon, seat of the pants sort of effort – fast – no do-overs, no obsessing ( a little obsessing ), good spontaneous fun for my typically compulsive and too tightly wound self.
And the fabulous little fellows who wore them brought them to life in ways I could never have imagine.
( there is a video of the humpback whale on the move here)
wow, they are awesome! great creation (& a GOOD obsession). xm
Both supercute! My godchild was also a starfish, but did NOT want it to look like the one in Spongebob, who apparently is not so bright.
As a weird segue, any idea who makes those really cool shoes with clog bottom on the adult in the humpback whale photo?
the clog boots are from no. 6
The video of the humpback whale running down the street is so awesome! I love seeing that little tail flap flap flapping. 🙂
Wow, good job! They look great. And awesome kids who want to be sea creatures.
THIS IS SO AWESOME! If I have a little one I would make them wear one of these!
Those are fantastic and they fit perfectly.
I love the tail action when the whale is in motion 🙂
Oh my GOD that was so cute it made me want toddlers again! Awesome costumes! the video killed me.
Love your obsession. Keep on being obsessed =0)
insanely cute. Makes me want to shrink my 11 year old who now will only wear things like Medieval Executioner outfits…
so cute!
You need to make these next year and sell them on Etsy-I so needed that Blue Whale costume this year!
It is soo beautiful and wish I could sew and have your talent.
These are adorable. Did you have a pattern for the whale?
Do you have a pattern for this or can I commission the humpback whale? I have a 4 year old who is obsessed with humpbacks and it’s the only thing he wants to be for Halloween. I can’t find costumes for anything but killer whales. Please let me know.
Hi Jen,
I wish I could help but I made that humpback kind of by the seat of my pants – i didn’t create a pattern or anything – just winged it, The only advice I can offer is I used a ton of felt an attached it to the little guy with suspenders.
Good luck – I hope your little humpback has an awesome halloween,
ann
Hi! These are adorable. Do you by chance have a pattern for the humpback whale costume?! My son has his heart set on being one for Halloween and I’m finding it difficult to find one premade, or find a pattern!
