A vehement gloomy being who had quitted the ways of vulgar men without light to guide him on a better way.

Or raven or bat -maybe something new.
Underneath are some old wallpaper scraps I got at the flea market last week.
The bodice has lots of wonderful hand stitching inside and it has great black glass buttons. Speaking of buttons -an almost finished owl with very fancy antique button eyes.
I came across this strange plant a couple weeks ago in a forest in RI – I’d love to know what it is.
*check the comments for name info – they are called ghost pipes and some other great names.
I’m working on owls.
And a photo I got at the flea market yesterday. I wish I had time to go through the box carefully. I usually look at pictures like this but don’t buy them – trying to have less stuff – but I had to take this one, so many things to like but mostly the little white dog, he seems to be the only one not in on the fun.
A new owl – mr. guppy.
He’s made from an antique flour sack and dress makers scraps from the early 1900’s among other things.
He also has some 19th century thread sewn into his ears.
The threads are courtesy of stephen szczcepanek and I love them. I’m not sure what circumstance he finds them in but they absoutley belong in owl ears and probably some other places too.
A beautiful and wonderfully expressive, melancholy little bear, will, a christmas gift handmade by my sister becky (note on the picture- taken using the handiest little tripod ever – a gift from my sister Catherine).
And a couple new owls in progress.
I finished the owl in the post below – rodrigo is in the shop now as well as a few more birds and a paper mache sailboat.
I’m working on a few things for the shop ( including some birds). I’ll post when they are available – definitely before the weekend.
* If you’re waiting to hear back from me hang in there – I’m going to spend a lot of time over the next couple weeks catching up on email.
